Elegant and subtle Fall Decor

I'll admit it - with the exception of Christmas (and sometimes not much then) I'm not one to do a lot of holiday or seasonal decorating. I have a friend who must have bins and bins of seasonal decorating items and she loves to get her house ready for each seasonal change as early as possible. I admire the effort and energy it takes, but it's just not my thing. And the seasonal Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving decorating is particularly not my thing. Too orange and brown I guess. It also seems that much of it is overdone with a lot of fakey fake fake items. Maybe it's because I don't have kids... I can see the appeal if one has little kids.<br /><br />I do, however, appreciate a more subtle approach to the season.<br /><br />This is a beautiful long centerpiece for a Thanksgiving table, isn't it? This is from the Lauren Conrad blog (who knew?). I'm not sure I would purchase anything if I were visiting, but I'm sure many will and it appears the royal baby souvenir booklet is already <a href="http://www.royalcollectionshop.co.uk/royal-baby/exclusive-souvenirs/the-royal-baby-book-a-souvenir-album-hardback.html" target="_blank">sold out</a>. <br /><br />I'm always amazed when people (American's and other non-Brits) start yipping about the the royal family being an outdated institution and that they are really just living off the dole. Firstly because I don't think it's anyone's place to tell another country how to run itself, but mostly because of the money the British monarchy brings into the country. I think I read they receive somewhere between 50-80 Million Pounds annually. However, I also heard that it's estimated that wee Prince Georgie alone will bring in over 200 million Pounds in revenue fairly quickly in terms of tourist dollars and souvenirs. And who benefits from tourist dollars and sales of tchotchkes? Thos. Moser Furniture Rocks!

Happy New Year!

Hello and Happy New Year! I have to admit that I am feeling a little trepidation about 2013. The last few years have been pretty chaotic for me and I'm not sure the number 13 makes me feel all that secure about the next 365 days; well, 362 at this point!<br /><br />So, I'm just going to focus on the good things happening right this moment as we begin the new year.
