He's mostly keeping calm and still today, sitting in the window at my feet. Trying to keep the cone of shame off him as much as possible - it's so huge on his little head he can barely walk with it on. Poor little baby! How to Do Interior Design Rendering Like the Pros

Over a decade ago when I was working on my decorative arts  certificate at the Boston Architectural College, most of my professors  required all hand-drawn and painted floorplans, elevations and  perspective renderings for our projects. I realized very quickly that  while I truly loved doing it, drawing by hand does not come that easily  to me. It takes me a very long time to produce decent, if not a bit  tortured looking, drawings.<br /><br /><br /></div><div class="text parbase section">When running a business, especially  as a solo-practitioner, time is truly money and spending hours  rendering plans isn't the best use of time. I could have taken CAD  classes at the school as well, but the timing never really worked out.  And so, I've since spent many hours (more hours!) testing different ways  of creating visual presentations for my clients. Sometimes, I feel like  there is nothing I haven't seen already, read already, or done already.  Burnout can hit anyone in any career. No matter how much we love it any  one of us can get to a point where we stop "seeing" what's in front of  us, or coming up with fresh new ideas. This is  certainly true - a trip to Paris or Tahiti will certainly do the job and  travel of any kind can't be overlooked when developing a broad design  sensibility. But when time and budget gets in the way of big travel  plans, try a "staycation" and play tourist in your own town or region.  Museums of all kinds offer great ideas and stimulating new experiences.<br /><br /> Historical house museums and art museums are obvious choices, but  don't forget science museums which can boast wonderful modern  architecture, or an aquarium which showcases natural beauty along with  interesting exhibits and lighting displays. Single genre museums  (automobiles, airplanes, dolls) are often housed in interesting  buildings that may be historic or modern. Inspiration can come from  anywhere and learning about historical design styles and their color  combinations, or geometric patterns that speak to a specific time period  can become wonderful inspirations for our modern designs. On Tuesday I'm headed to the Boston Design Center to find some fabrics and other items for a couple of client projects. And, hopefully, by the end of the week I'll be able to share the cover of the September issue of Cape Cod magazine, which is featuring a project I did in Truro, MA.
